The main goal for today is... Mason and I are going to finish making the first and second coils and finish making the compasiters. No time to type, got a big job to do!

Today, I got a TON of changes and revisions done on my Leopard Gecko project and learned more info on how the Jacob's ladder is going to work.

I slacked off a bit, just because i'm tired and ready to go home I lost some of my working thunder after lunch too...

Music was fun, we are writing our on song with our own lyrics. I am excited. 3/16/11

Daily Goals 3/16/11

Wednesday: I am posting this late so I'll tell you what I did before this... The first thing I did today was check my email, and saw that I had a reply back from a partner with The Glades Herp Farm (See earlier post). He replied with good comments and told me information I had gotten wrong and helped me make it accurate. I then revised my Leopard Gecko project and reposted it.

I plan to: Continue work on Mason and my Jacob's Ladder Project and contact my Mom about going out to Fort Walton Beach for a Neon Sign Transformer to make our Jacob's Ladder.

Maybe I'll have some time to work on my laser project, because I still need to think of a perfect essential 

question.

I sent my Leopard Gecko project to a partner of the Glades Herp Farm named Scott Quint. In the email, I asked if he could review my project and look for flaws and things that may not be accurate. He replied with some helpful input...

"Hi Cale,

   Just a few comments

1. The background makes it very hard to read. I'd tone that down
2. They eat their Shed skins to hide evidence of their presence. There is no protein in the shed. It is almost all Keratin
3. Red lamps give off red light and infrared. If it was only infrared you wouldnt be able to see it. 
4. Lizards drop their tails as a decoy. The pattern and reflexive movement of the tail makes it a more interesting target than the lizard itself. The loss of the tail does not help them run any better.
5. It's difficult to determine  how good or bad their vision is. I suspect it's not too bad. They are attracted to movement like any other predator. Movement give away an animal that is camouflaged. Even keen eyed cats and birds look for movement." - Scott Quint

Forms of government - pro's and con's.

Dudeocricy - A form of government 100% ran by the male race. Doesn't work out to well, because no girls respect guys.v

Dictatorship - Well, Joanna was in charge :( so everything was up to her. But regardless it was a lot of fun because jojo was a fair and fun leader. 

Democracy - A form of government that everyone has an equal say in. It was the fairest and was the most fun.

Dudeocracy was still my favorite because i was in charge :)

Daily Goals - 2/2/11

PBL day! So I plan to write, write, write. I need to get this paragraph for benchmark 17 written, and then need to quickly find more resources for the other benchmarks!  Hopefully I can get more than 2 benchmark's sites and paragraphs finished.

Monday - 1/31/11

I feel okay with the process at this point, I think the information found is very useful and our project is going to be awesome.

My daily goals is going to be hard. I spilled water on my laptop, and i think its fried. So i'm using a friends while he's at school. I still hope to complete a benchmark today and need to start emailing some of our experts.

I plan to get as much of my benchmarks done as physically possible. I have hopes that we finish up and can send it to an expert very soon.

Today I hope to be finishing up or at least get near the end of my benchmarks for my PBL.

Today I got myself set up on FLVS and requested my classes. I also worked on getting sources for the benchmarks and figure out what im gonna write for some of them.
Now, time to go clean mysterious package's room.

Daily Goal Jan/19

Today is PBL day so I hope Leah and I can get a good head start on our project, plus my project i am doing alone! We got a lot done on Monday so I think today will be good.

Did you achieve your daily goals?
Yes, because Leah and I accomplished more than half of our daily goals and I think we made a valiant effort to get all our sources done. 

What did you notice about yourself as a learner today? Work habits etc.
I noticed I learned! I noticed a music helps me stay focused throughout the day.

Works Habits

My work habits for last week were not the best all week. I missed school Thursday and Friday, so I have a lot to catch up with. I think I can do a good job with my work habits this week, because I feel that I'm already off to a good start. The concert over the weekend was awesome, and everyone did a great job playing their part.

Meta-cognition.

Being Meta-cognitive.

 J. H. Flavell first used the word "metacognition".^[5] He describes it in these words:

OHpedia Rubric Creation

Today for PBL, Leah and I  worked on coding the OHpedia Rubric ideas. We compiled thoughts from different people and put those ideas into this blog. The ideas we coded came from a shared Google Doc that the whole middle and high schools had access to. We also worked with the whole school in coming up with the final rubric. The final rubric is also located on a shared Google Doc. Below is the information that we coded.

Starting Project Based Learning

It's only my second week here at the OH, and let me tell you the excitement I am feeling on doing PBL's. I think it's going to be a great thing for me and the rest of my peers and will help us learn more creatively! I've done project based learning in the passed and noticed how much it helped you retain the information. I am doing my first PBL this year on the Gulf Oil Spill and the danger of Corexit. It's going slowing because I'm still trying to transition into the new school and learning environment.
